Born and raised in Ratchaburi, Assistant Professor Dr Suppabhorn Suwanpakdee is a violist, researcher, and Vice President at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM). Growing up in a family of educators and among different dialects and cultural traditions cultivated his enduring curiosity about people, place, and belonging. His musical journey began with violin and viola, leading to studies at Silpakorn University, Mahidol University, and Chulalongkorn University under a Thai government scholarship. Alongside an international performance career, he appeared many times internationally with various stag musical explorations. Encounters with communities across Thailand later transformed his understanding of what music might do beyond the concert hall. Through more than a decade of Music for Society, his work has brought artistic practice into dialogue with cultural diversity, social inequality, and community knowledge, approaching music as a way to listen, learn, and live together.
