Since 2022, PULSE, the Journal for Music and Interdisciplinary Practices, has provided a dedicated platform for researchers exploring all aspects of musical expression. The primary mission of the journal is to serve as a centralised forum for scholarly debate and discussion on topics related to contemporary musical life, while also sharing the diverse voices and perspectives of Southeast Asian musicians and scholars with a global audience. Through its publication and accompanying website, PULSE documents the ongoing development of music and the arts within Southeast Asia, emphasizing musical diversity and innovation.
We hope that this platform will continue to foster meaningful dialogue, inspire creative practices, and promote greater understanding of the region's rich musical landscape. This PGVIS presentation and discussion explore the transformative potential of such initiatives, emphasizing the importance of documenting and advocating for the unique work produced by Southeast Asian practitioners. It also serves as an opportunity for us, the PULSE team, to connect with you—our readers and future contributors.
