Septian Dwi Cahyo study composition with Beat Furrer, and Gatot Danar Sulistiyanto. He also studied algorithmic, electronic/computer music with Tony Maryana, and Gerhard Nierhaus. His pieces have been performed in Europe, Mexico, East Asia, and Southeast Asia in festivals/labs such as Southeast Asia Young Composers Competition and festival 2013, MUSLAB 2018, Shanghai New Music Week, 21st Young Composers Meeting, Asia Culture Centre, Manila Composers Lab, etc. His pieces have been performed by SETTS Ensemble, Ensemble Mosaik, Orkest de Ereprijs, Ensemble Offspring, Classikan Ensemble, Studio Musikfabrik and ASEAN Youth Ensemble, Ensemble Handwerk, etc. He has attended various masterclass/private lectures with Martijn Padding, Cathy van Eck, Richard Ayres, Beat Furrer, Raphaël Cendo, Lara Morciano, etc. In 2016 he was awarded the Honorable Mention 12th Sunriver Prize Composition Competition and recently awarded 2nd prize in the 5th International Microtonal Guitar Composition Competition. In 2018 and 2019 he received the ASEA Uninet SP24 Grant and ASEA Uninet ERNST MACH GRANT to study composition with Beat Furrer and undertake an algorithmic music composition project under supervising from Gerhard Nierhaus at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and in Institute of Music Electronic and Acoustics Graz. Some of his pieces were published by Babel Scores. As a speaker, he was invited/selected to give a presentation in IEEE Region 10 SYWL Congress 2018, Korea ElectroAcoustic Music Society’s Annual Conference 2020, Salihara Arts Center, PGVIS Conference 2021, etc.
