Professor Jean Geoffroy is a French percussionist, educator, artistic director, and researcher whose work spans contemporary music, interdisciplinary creation, and new technologies. He received First Prize in percussion from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 1984 and later served as solo timpanist of the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris. As an internationally active soloist, he has premiered numerous works for percussion and performed at major festivals around the world.

Alongside his performing career, Jean Geoffroy has been deeply committed to education for more than four decades. He has taught at leading institutions including the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the Haute École de Musique de Genève, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon. He is also Professor of Didactics at the Paris Conservatoire and has contributed extensively to publications and projects concerning percussion pedagogy and the evolving role of the performer in contemporary creation.

His artistic research explores relationships between sound, gesture, movement, and technology. Through collaborations with IRCAM and LiSiLoG, he has helped develop interactive performance systems and new repertoire combining instrumental performance, electronics, and movement.

Jean Geoffroy has also held artistic leadership roles with Eklekto International Percussion Center, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, and TransSonLaB at Taipei National University of the Arts. Since 2021, he has collaborated with the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music International Symposium, contributing to interdisciplinary artistic research, contemporary performance, and creative exchange.
