Ma. Patricia Brillantes Silvestre, Ph.D is Professor of Musicology and Dean of the College of Music, University of the Philippines, Diliman. Recognized for her strong and dynamic interdisciplinary background, she has written on diverse aspects of music in colonial to contemporary Manila and Fil-Hispanic music and culture, such as the colonial press and music journalism, music and media, politics, identity and nation through the lenses of musicology, social history, language, literature and cultural studies. Culture and the Arts, the UP-Artist Award, ONE UP Professorial Chair Award for Outstanding Teaching and Creative Work, and Sigma Delta Phi Professorial Chair Award, was formerly with the Philippine Madrigal Singers and AUIT Vocal Chamber Ensemble. She is Producer-Host of the College of Music’s radio program “Tunog at Tinig” on DZUP 1602, sings with and is on the creative team of Himig Undaya chorale, and continues to curate, conceptualize and write for diverse cultural events. She sits on the Executive Board of Southeast Asia Directors of Music (SEADOM), on the Arts, Culture, and History Committee of the UP-Philippine Association of University Women, and is Chair of the CHED Technical Panel on Music.
