Assistant Professor Anna Patricia Carranza

Anna Patricia Rodriguez-Carranza is a faculty member of the Music Education Department, College of Music in UP Diliman. Her work in the University involves teaching preschool music education and classroom ensemble music courses at the undergraduate level and having taught Creative Music Experiences for Children in the College's Extension Program. She currently serves as treasurer of the Philippine Society for Music Education and is involved with projects and workshops in helping equip the Filipino music educator in their craft. She has performed in concerts in different formal venues and alternative spaces such as the International Bamboo Organ Festival and school outreaches (with Musika Sophia Music early music ensemble), Cultural Center of the Philippines and jazz bars (with Kekeli West African Drum and Dance Ensemble under ethnomusicologist-percussionist Royal Hartigan), Abelardo Hall (with Dawani Women’s Choir and Tugtugang Musika Asyatika), and University of the Philippines Theater (guest artist of University of the Philippines Symphony Orchestra). She is also currently a curatorial assistant of Museo Pambata, the first interactive children’s museum in the Philippines. Her research interests and expertise include alternative learning spaces for music education, early childhood music education, and quality assurance in higher education. Her master’s thesis was a historiography on the 100 years of undergraduate education at the UP College of Music, framed using the lens of Philippine identity.
