Artit Phonron recently completed his PhD in Ethnomusicology at Goldsmiths, University of London. His research explores the performance practice of Thai theatre music, with particular

attention to musical accompaniment, performer interaction, and the relationship between music, dance, and narrative. Before and during his doctoral studies, he worked as a professional

musician at Thailand’s National Theatre while also teaching Thai music in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. His current research interests include artistic research, embodied musical

knowledge, and the transmission of Thai performing arts.
