Inspired by Sherwood Anderson’s short fiction, "The Triumph of the EGG" was originally created in the MAKING Performing Arts course at Seoul National University, an interdisciplinary, project-based general education class designed. Neither a play, nor a musical, nor a concert, the work merges multiple art forms into an interactive performance where audiences shape the unfolding narrative.
For the symposium, PGVIM students will reinterpret the original concept through a collaborative workshop, exploring new ways to weave Anderson’s imagery into a performance that defies genre boundaries. While rooted in the original SNU production, this version will reflect the PGVIM students’ own cultural perspectives and creative decisions, and will result in a work that is both a continuation and a transformation of the source idea.
As an evolving example of how MAKING Performing Arts can connect creative processes across institutions and cultures, this presentation highlights the potential of process-based, cross-disciplinary education to foster artistic agency in 21st-century learning environments.
