The last decade has seen something of a Sea-Change in relation to the role of women as leaders in music education contexts both in Southeast Asia and globally. Building out from the inspiration of Princess Galyani Vadhana herself, this presentation looks at contemporary evolutions in relation to innovation, power relations and inclusion in our sector, acknowledging women in multiple roles and contexts who have inspired change in my perspectives across the period.  As tides change, resilience and sustainability become key in assuring stability of evolution: the presentation will explore perceived developments in community engagement, artistic experimentation, research, production & entrepreneurship, politics and leadership both in the Asia-Pacific and Europe, drawing on personal stories as starting points for broader considerations of trends.
