“The Woman,” is our champion, our namesake: Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana. The princess believed wholeheartedly in the power of music. For her, music was much more than mere entertainment; it was much more than beauty for its own sake. Princess Galyani Vadhana saw in music a force that has the power to unite people; a practice that can strengthen the very fabric of society; anchor and ground its citizens as they brave together the turbulence of an ever-changing world. Following her vision, PGVIM became home to a vibrant, dynamic, and enduring community in which artists and practitioners reach far into the future and beyond social boundaries.

This year, PGVIM celebrates the centenary of our beloved Princess as well as the tenth anniversary of our annual international symposium. In this auspicious year, we invite you to join us as we reflect on accessibility and sustainability in our musical cultures. We will be investigating how the transformative power of music can bring communities together while establishing durable practices within society. What artistic and pedagogical approaches might we engage in now and in the future to further enhance the accessibility and sustainability of the music we cherish?
