Accessibility and sustainability are two terms of fundamental relevance in music education and music in society. Princess Galyani Vadhana was keenly aware of their importance, and, from the very beginning, PGVIM followed these principles in many ways. However, beside many positive developments, there are some threatening shadows in regards to music perception and the function of music in society. Since the early 20th century, for example, the development of musical reproduction technologies have caused significant changes. Additionally, today we have to further contend with the impact of streaming platforms. This paper deals with some of the central aspects of these issues and how educational music institutes may go about facing them.
