This study examines how mobile music camps can serve as creative interventions in cultural tourism and sustainable local development. Using Music on the Move as a case study, a recurring music camp that relocates annually across different provinces of Thailand, the research explores how music, when intentionally brought into everyday and non-conventional spaces, can foster intercultural dialogue, community participation, and place-based identity. Grounded in cultural economy, experience economy, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the research investigates how dynamic music-making harmonizes local and global cultural values. By activating sites like art forests, local hotels, and cafes, Music on the Move transforms landscapes into immersive cultural encounters that are participatory and emotionally resonant.

A mixed-methods approach was employed, incorporating pre- and post-camp surveys, in-depth interviews, participant observation, and comparative studies of renowned international music festivals, including the Verbier Festival (Switzerland), Tanglewood, and Aspen (USA). Findings indicate that community engagement and co-creation in music camps can generate significant cultural capital along with sustainable economic and social impact.

Preliminary results from the 2025 edition in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima, reveal strong positive responses: 89% of audience members expressed interest in revisiting the area for future musical events, and 92% felt that the music camp deepened their emotional connection to the location. These results validate the potential of mobile music camps as flexible, community-centered platforms for cultural tourism, offering alternative models of sustainable development that integrate artistic excellence with social relevance. Music on the Move exemplifies how immersive experiences can create a "wonderland," linking tradition and local specificity with global resonance.
